What this part does
The Multi-Function Display, often referred to by BMW technicians as the Central Information Display (CID), is the primary interface for the vehicle's iDrive system. Located in the center of the dashboard, it receives video signals from the main head unit via an LVDS cable to display navigation, climate status, vehicle settings, and multimedia data. It also registers capacitive touch inputs for system control. A failing display will typically exhibit dead pixels, delamination of the anti-glare coating, intermittent blanking, flickering, or a completely black screen, which cuts off visual access to crucial vehicle controls and diagnostics.

Before you order
You must match the part number from the back of your original screen before purchasing. BMW equipped the 7 Series with different screen variations based on specific option packages, including gesture control compatibility and different anti-glare coatings. If you install a screen with mismatched options, the display may not power on or the touch functions will remain inactive.
Replacing the screen itself does not usually require programming or coding as long as the original head unit remains in the vehicle. Always disconnect the vehicle's negative battery terminal before removing the old screen to prevent damage to the delicate LVDS video cable and sensitive internal components during installation.
