What this part does
The blower motor is the primary electric fan responsible for circulating conditioned air throughout the passenger cabin. Mounted within the climate control housing behind the dashboard, it draws outside air or recirculates interior air, pushing it through the cabin air filter, over the air conditioning evaporator, and through the heater core. The vehicle's climate control module and final stage resistor regulate the speed of the fan based on the driver's settings.
A failing motor often exhibits a high-pitched squeak, a ticking sound, or a low rumbling noise caused by worn internal bearings or debris caught in the squirrel cage. Complete failure results in zero airflow from the vents, rendering the heating, windshield defrosting, and air conditioning systems entirely unusable.

Before you order
It is highly recommended to inspect the blower motor regulator, commonly referred to as the final stage resistor, when diagnosing a faulty fan. Resistors frequently fail alongside or shortly before the motor due to the increased electrical amperage drawn by worn fan bearings. If your fan only operates on the highest speed setting, the resistor is likely at fault rather than the motor itself.
Additionally, inspect the electrical connector on your vehicle's wiring harness for signs of thermal damage or melted plastic. A failing motor pulls excess current, which can scorch the pigtail. Any damaged wiring must be repaired before plugging in the replacement part, or the new unit may fail prematurely.
