What this part does

The Oxygen Sensor measures the proportion of unburned oxygen in the exhaust gases as they exit the combustion chamber. It sends continuous voltage signals to the engine management system, allowing the computer to adjust the air-fuel mixture in real time for optimal performance and emissions control. Located in the exhaust piping either before or after the catalytic converter, a malfunctioning sensor typically causes poor fuel economy, rough idling, engine hesitation, and triggers the check engine light.
