What this part does

The front left brake caliper is a primary hydraulic component mounted to the steering knuckle over the front driver-side brake rotor. It houses internal pistons that convert hydraulic pressure from the brake master cylinder into mechanical clamping force, pushing the brake pads against the spinning rotor to slow the vehicle. When a caliper fails, it typically develops hydraulic fluid leaks at the piston seals or seizes in the closed position, which causes severe brake drag, rotor overheating, and accelerated pad wear. A seized caliper will also cause the vehicle to pull sharply to one side during braking.
