The Tail Light is mounted on the rear corner of the vehicle to indicate your position, braking, and turning intent to drivers following you. On the E39 5 Series, this right passenger-side assembly contains the lenses and housing for the brake light, turn signal, running light, and reverse light. When the housing cracks or the weather seal fails, water intrusion leads to corroded bulb sockets and electrical shorts, resulting in dashboard warnings or complete light failure.
