What this part does
The Steering Wheel is the primary driver interface for controlling the direction of the vehicle, mounting directly to the splined shaft of the steering column. Beyond steering, it serves as the mounting point for the driver's front airbag, horn pad, paddle shifters, and various multifunction media or cruise control switches. The internal wiring harness routes signals from these buttons through the clock spring to the steering column control module. Complete failure of the wheel itself is rare, but they are frequently replaced when the leather wrap degrades, the internal heating element breaks, or the integrated switch mounting points become damaged.

Before you order
Check your original wheel's exact feature set before ordering. Porsche steering wheels vary heavily based on option codes, particularly regarding steering wheel heating, paddle shifters, and multifunction radio/telephone controls. If you install a wheel with a different button layout or missing heating elements, those features will not function and will trigger warning lights. The driver's airbag, clock spring, and center trim are not included with a bare steering wheel replacement. You must transfer your original airbag and ensure the battery is fully disconnected before beginning the swap to prevent accidental deployment or SRS fault codes.
